Privacy Policy — IP & Anonymity Checker (Chrome Extension)

This page describes the privacy practices of the IP & Anonymity Checker browser extension (“the Extension”), published by ToProxyLab and available in the Chrome Web Store. This policy applies only to the Extension. It is separate from, and does not replace, the general Privacy Notice that governs the toproxylab.com website.

1. Summary

The Extension does not collect, store, sell, or share any personal data. It has no backend server, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. All it does is display, locally in your browser, information about your current public IP address and check whether WebRTC is leaking it. Nothing you see in the popup is ever sent to ToProxyLab or to any party other than the two IP lookup providers described below.

2. What the Extension does

When you click the Extension’s icon, it performs, entirely inside your own browser, the following actions:

• It sends your current public IP address to two third-party IP lookup services in order to retrieve geolocation, ISP and proxy/hosting-detection information, and displays the result to you.
• It runs a local WebRTC connectivity test (using your browser’s built-in WebRTC engine and a public STUN server) to check whether WebRTC reveals an IP address different from your regular connection IP — a common sign of a “WebRTC leak” when using a proxy or VPN.
• It compares your browser’s configured timezone with the timezone associated with your IP address, purely as an informational indicator.
• Optionally, only if you click the “Enable WebRTC leak protection” button, it changes a built-in Chrome setting (chrome.privacy.network.webRTCIPHandlingPolicy) that restricts WebRTC from exposing local/non-proxied IP addresses. This setting is stored by Chrome itself, not by the Extension.

3. Third-party services used by the Extension

To show you information about your IP address, the Extension queries the following third-party APIs directly from your browser:

• ipwho.is — used to look up geolocation, city, country, timezone and ISP/network information for the current public IP.
• free.freeipapi.com — used to check whether the currentтIP is associated with a known proxy, VPN, or hosting provider.

These requests contain only your public IP address, which is automatically visible to any website you visit — the Extension does not add any additional identifiers, cookies, account information, or tracking parameters to these requests. ToProxyLab does not operate these services, does not receive a copy of these requests, and has no access to their logs. Please refer to each provider’s own privacy policy for details on how they handle requests on their end.

4. What the Extension does not do

• It does not read, modify, or inject anything into the content of the web pages you visit.
• It does not use cookies, local storage, or any persistent identifiers.
• It does not track your browsing history, search queries, or the sites you visit.
• It does not transmit any data to ToProxyLab’s own servers – ToProxyLab has no visibility into how, when, or how often you use the Extension.
• It does not collect e-mail addresses, account credentials, payment information, or any personally identifiable information.

5. Data retention

Because the Extension has no backend and no storage, there is nothing to retain. Each time you open the popup, a new request is made to the third-party APIs listed above, and the result is held only in the popup’s memory. As soon as you close the popup, that data is gone. Nothing is cached, logged, or saved between sessions by the Extension itself.

6. Permissions requested by the Extension

The Extension requests the minimum permissions needed to function:

• host_permissions for ipwho.is and free.freeipapi.com — required to send the lookup requests described in Section 3.
• privacy — required only to let you optionally enable Chrome’s built-in WebRTC leak-protection setting described in Section 2. This permission is never used to read or change any other browser or privacy setting.

The Extension does not request access to your browsing history, tabs, bookmarks, downloads, or the content of any website, and does not run any background scripts while it is not actively open.

7. Links to ToProxyLab.com

The Extension contains one visible link to toproxylab.com, which you may click voluntarily to compare proxy providers. Clicking this link opens a new browser tab and takes you to the public toproxylab.com website, where the general Privacy Notice of the website applies. The Extension does not automatically open, redirect to, or inject this link
anywhere outside of its own popup.

8. Children’s privacy

The Extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, since it does not collect data at all.

9. Changes to this policy

If the Extension’s functionality changes in a way that affects the data it accesses or the permissions it requests, this page will be updated accordingly, and the “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. We recommend checking this page if you have concerns after updating the Extension.
